Sorry we can't personally welcome you yet but as soon as ezboard fixes the board we'll be sure to do so.

Now hopefully this thread won't disappear.

I hope this is fixed soon.

I just hope we'll get our Mirrorworld and Into the Past posts back. :(

Otherwise I have a butt-kicking to do too. Give me just 5 minutes alone with the person who caused that. Well, two minutes would be enough too.

Totally. I hope they will get the criminal(s). In the update ezboard that, that they have a trace. They should post their address here, so that we can visit the person(s).

I tend to agree.

Well, hello. I'm perhaps interested in RPing here. I'm an RPGer, dice-style, but I'm starting to get more and more interested in story as opposed to technical combat (what I've always loved about RPGs). And I'll have to say that I'm not the biggest star wars fan, but after playing a few games of the Star Wars d20 RPG, I kind of fell in love with the concept of what it calls "dark jedi." I'm sure there's probably plenty of people running around with a similar concept, the idea of balancing the darkside and lightside in one person, running that thin line, but I like it all the same.

Now, I did read the rules that say you can't play a force-wielder without proof of some RP, so I'll be working on that in the mirrorworld side. But as I've said, I don't know a whole lot about the Star Wars world, so I'm going to be missing some vital info I should probably know. For example, what races would tend to be detached and philosophical enough to consider lightside and darkside as two sides of the same coin, both to be used when the situation warrants it?

Bother. Tried to post, got an error message. Summary: I'm new, don't know much about the Star Wars Universe. Interested in playing a "dark jedi" type of character, but don't know what races would espouse the sense of detachment and philosophical thinking to actually equally consider both the lightside and darkside as flipsides of the same coin, either to be used when the situation warrants it. Any help here? Only race I know of right off known for a lot of thinking like that is the Cereans.

Looks like both posts showed up, welcome to the board. :]

Dark Jedi do not walk the thin line, they are Jedi who have crossed to the dark side. Darth Vader is an example. You probably mean Rogue or Shadow Jedi; these do not necessarily fall in with any particular group but what they do have in common is they were once trained as Jedi and have fallen away from the "religion."

That said, I believe Cereans (http://www.starwars.com/databank/character/kiadimundi/) may be what you are looking for. They have a binary brain and can theoretically consider both dark and light at the same time. But I think in the end, anyone who tends to use both will eventually fall to the Dark Side.

Is that an official board admin stance or a statement of personal opinion?

I'm not trying to be nitpicky or anything, it's just that according to the D20 books, each individual can contain a certain amount of darkness in their soul before they are truly part of the dark side (quantifiably represented by how many darkside points are accumulated as compared to your wisdom statistic: darkside character = darkside points > 1/2 wisdom). Now, I do realize this is an RP board, not a D20 board, and I do recognize the administrators' rights to run it as they wish. So I'm attempting to clarify whether you as an individual feel that 1) it is untenable in the long run, or 2) it is impossible for someone to truly study and comprehend the darkside without completely succumbing to it, OR if either of the above is board policy.

From the little I've seen of genuine star wars material, I'm inclined to generally, on principle agree with #1 (and this character would be an attempt to find the answer), but I would disagree with #2. Of course, as I've said, if #2 is the official board stance, then that's that, I suppose :)

It's not so cut and dry here as to how many points you get before you're officially "dark". It's all about how you write the character. Once it's approved, and if you write it realistically, it should be fine.

Greetings. I'm your average, run-of-the-mill starwars fan, (i.e. teenage guy) and I recently finished beating Knights of the Old Republic. As I was playing, a thought came to me about a character concept. I tried to roleplay it as well as I could, but there are very limited options on KOTR. But here's my idea, essentially:

My character has been wronged by both the Jedi and the Sith, and believes that the Force itself is not to be tampered with, and destroys the human spirit. He has use of the Force, but very limited, and has sworn his life to destroying all who use the Force, and once he is done, to turn his blade on himself. The Force he uses is only what he has to in order to contend with other Jedi/Sith. He also fears falling victim to its power, and is in a constant struggle to remain true to his ideals.

I call it the Force Hunter, and I was wondering if something like that would be acceptable here. He isn't completely all right upstairs. Just worndering...

Welcome to Tales.

Our timeline is 12 years after the battle of Endor. You have to put your idea into a bio, that fits into our timeline.

Welcome to the board. We've actually had Force hunters here before. They didn't last though. The concept sounds good to me, feel free to post a bio and we'll go from there.

Be sure to read the rules and FAQ first. :]

...That's a good point, hehe. I really should read the Rules and FAQ. I shall do that.

Edit: Hmmmm...this board seems pretty intense...Not certain if I can dedicate the time needed, as I'm pretty busy, especially over the next few months. I hafta think about this.

You can hang out in the OOC forums to get to know everyone and do short RPs in the Free Zone to get your feet wet if you want.

I think I will join, but it will be in about 3 months. The college I go to has a work term/school term schedule, where I work 3 months out of the year, which are what are coming up next, so I don't really have all that much time on my hands. Come the next school term, when I have unlimited internet access and almost unlimited internet time, I think I will probably join. Sad to see I discovered this place right before my work term began, though. I might poke around from time to time though and post in the 'newbie' area occasionally too. I'll have to see what they're going to have me do over this work term.

Hope to see you all soon!

Edit: Roughly how many words is a browser page of length? That sounds like a lot, but it may not be, compared to what I usually write.

I'm not sure either, but I try to write around a page in Word. It's sometimes more or less depending on how far I take it.

Hello!

I haven't used my ezboard account in months so am still quite new. Is there a process for joining this forum? Should I have sent through a private message or something? I'm really sorry, I have no clue how these boards are supposed to work.

Mia

No, you don't have to do anything like that to post here though in certain forums, (The Galaxy, and Into the Past) you'll need a bio which is approved to post in them. Otherwise, you can chat with us in the Out of Character Discussion and places of that nature. If you feel like joining our little RPG, you can post a character Bio in the Character Bio section, we'd be glad to have you along. Oh, and welcome to Tales!

Hello and welcome. :] Surprize is correct. Also, the rules and FAQ which are located in the "Your First Stop" drop down menu at the top of the forum should answer any other questions you may have.
