Faces of Epics

Haika Vibrose

How long have you been involved with Epics?

Two years this September.

How many Characters do you write on Epics?

Lessee... five characters... yeah. Two of my buds keep trying to throw their characters at me too.

Which characters do you write?

Haika Vibrose, obviously. Then there is Dayíric Shallon, Nalla Frontierus, Inestra Shee and Whe-too Vibrose.

Can you explain briefly how he/she/they came into being?

Haika grew from being a really two-dimensional Jedi warrior. I originally planned for him to be a very hack-and-slash character, but he eventually became a seer too. I also originally wanted him to use two double-bladed lightsabers at once, but that was stupid. Since then he has grown to be a much better character.

Dayíric stemmed from wanting a pilot character for the White Shadows. He hasnít grown much as a character, and is probably still my most clichť character, other than Nalla, who came about as just wanting a partner for Dayíric.

Inestra sprang from an old brain-child. She used to be a he in fact, and was going to be the dark side leader of a pirate force. When that was taken by an NPC in a Dayíric story, I expanded on the idea for a new character, making the pirate leader an ex-convict mercenary leader. At the last minute I changed this to an ex-Imp, and at the very last a woman. I like her quite a bit, because she has room to grow.

Whe-too was made simply to expand on Haikaís dead masterís life. I had dropped hints at times, but when the opprutunity arose to make him his own character, I sprang at it. Heís my second favourite, after Haika, because heís such a solid character. Heís a really easy guy to write in some respects, but a challenge in others. Itís hard to keep him from becoming another Haika, so I made him Haikaís opposite: a weak swordsman and strategist.

What avatars represent your characters? Why did you pick them?

Haikaís is Gary Oldman. I picked him because I loved him in Harry Potter, and his look in that movie fit the character perfectly: beat up and dirty. Since then Iíve appreciated his other roles more, and have spread my interests in him as an actor. His Dracula was great.

Dayíric and Nalla are simple, I simply use whatever Zabrak and Twiílek pictures I can grab.

Inestra is Famke Jansen. I was having a real hard time finding an avatar and started by using a Bastilla Shan (from KOTOR) concept sketch that looked quite wicked. I eventually asked Corran for help, and he suggested Famke. I had only ever seen her in X-men, so I was hesitant, but have since gotten to like it.

Whe-too is a drawing I found on the Internet as filler. I havenít really searched since.

Do you have a favorite post you've written, or favorite story you have been involved in?

I have a few favourite posts. The one in which Haika momentarily falls to the dark side stands out. I like my description of the fight scene in it, coupled with the emotional stuff going through his head. I also enjoyed the first post of ďI, JensaaraiĒ, because I took real places and made them places in SW. The restaurant ĎShishí actually exists (itís in London). I also enjoyed writing pretty much all of Inestraís posts. Iíve never gotten to write so military a character, and I love it.

Did you develop your characterís back stories or did you add it in after the character was established?

Depends on the character. I developed Haikaís but changed it significantly as time went on. I also had a general idea of Dayíric, although not in detail. Nalla I made up as I went along, Iím sorry to say, and Whe-too developed from hints in Haikaís past. Finally, as said before, Inestra changed a lot over time, from a pirate leader to a convict to an Imp. She was the character I had the most thought out first, ironically, but also the character who changed the most.

What other parts of Epics do you enjoy?

Welcoming people. I introduced the gift baskets, which have since, I like to think, become a staple of the introductions. I also like all OOC stuff and enjoy writing in Mirrorworld quite a bit.

How did you find Epics?

I was surfing the blogs on starwars.com and found a blog by razrbern (Han). I found the link and came over for a looksee. I liked what I saw, and it soon outshined my other forums, which I have quit to make more time for Epics and other things.

Are the people in your life (spouse, significant other, family) supportive of your time on Epics?

Not in the least. My dad hates the amount of time I waste on a ďuselessĒ endeavour. My mom accepts it as my leisure time and my sister mocks me. My friends like it, kinda. I donít care, though, I love it too much.

Do you roleplay anywhere else?

Wanna hear a secret? Iím making an RP site right now. Itís a world... well, galaxy, completely created for the site. Itís taking a while, but Iíll eventually post a link.

And now, for the off duty questions...

FUNTACULAR!

Real name and age? Please enclose a picture of yourself if you are so inclined.

Christian von Cramon, 16 years old. Iíll give a spooky pic. SCARY!

Where do you live?

Canada, eh.

What is your occupation?

Student in high school and all around lazy person. YAY UNEMPLOYMENT!

What is your favorite type of music/band?

I have... an eclectic mix of likes. Everything from Queen to Weird Al. I like punk a little, and Iím sorry to say Emo music isnít bad. Queen is still my fave band. Bohemian Rhapsody pwns all. I also like movie and video game stuff. The tracks from Halo are awesome.

What kinds of hobbies do you have?

Writing, reading, drawing, rowing (thatís more of a lifestyle, really), gaming (Halo 2 especially), parkour, sword fighting and collecting pretty much anything.

What is your favorite way to relax?

Showers. Really long, really warm showers... with music playing over my stereo... and a book waiting one room over.

Is there anything special you do when you write?

Music playing sometimes, although sometimes the sound of life around me (clanging pots, my baby brother laughing and babbling, etc.) can be really helpful. Sometimes just sitting in my quiet living room and thinking out the post helps... although I like working by deadlines.

Did you always love writing, and do you write anything else?

Pretty much always loved writing, from about the age of 8, Iíd guess. I liked writing short stories back then. In grade 5 I attempted my first novel, but a virus wiped it away and I was taught the unfairness of life. Iíve written starts to... oh, 4 or 5 novels, sorta to practice. I am currently writing a novel I actually plan to finish. Itís very well planned out. I also write comedy routines (Iím a stand up guy). I write movie scripts too, as well as, currently, a very in-depth background to my RP site.

Thanks for the interview!
