There are scattered reports that Imperial warships were briefly spotted at Bilbringi several weeks ago. According to reports, a fleet of three star destroyers and numerous smaller warships entered the Bilbringi star system shortly after thirteen hundred local standard time. They exchanged light fire with a New Republic MC90 that was on garrison duty before withdrawing.

When asked for comment, the New Republic military officially denied that any Imperial attack had occurred in or near the Bilbringi star system. Speaking under condition of anonymity, however, one military official has told CNN that the New Republic Navy is engaged in a low key counter piracy operation in the area.
