A statement has been released from the naval branch of New Republic Headquarters to be announced here at the GNN. Admiral Ackbar, head of naval forces, has issued a report that Admiral Gabriella Nerys has submitted her resignation as Admiral of the Third Battle Fleet and the Third Battle Group. The cause of reason is unknown but it has been rumoured among the naval staff the admiral has been suffering from a long due illness. As of this moment, Nerys has been recognized as officially retired from the New Republic Navy, granted by Admiral Ackbar and Chief of State, Leia Organa Solo. She also has denied any interviews at this time.

Admiral Nerys was recently transported to the navy's medical ward here on Coruscant after being ordered back from a deep space mission to investigate an incident rumored to have involved an Imperial remnant. Details have not been disclosed as to the result of this mission as Admiral Chance Tate, commander of the First Battle Group, has taken over all matters of this incident. Admiral Tate has issued a statement that his battle group has completed all details regarding this investigation and will release a complete report when his fleet returns to Coruscant. There was no timeline as to his fleet's return as his last statement declared his crew was to undergo shore leave first.
